This guitar was restored for Jon Sheffer of "The Shockwaves."
Jon sent this letter to Flat Earth Guitars:
When I first received my '65 Fender Mustang, a wave of excitement rushed
over me. I tore through the packaging to reveal the most beautiful piece of
musical equipment I have ever seen. I tuned it up and started playing it
unplugged. I was amazed by the smoothness of the fretboard. My fingers
seemed to glide along with great ease; something I had never experienced
with other guitars I have owned. That was just the beginning.
After purchasing an amplifier and a digital reverb pedal, I really got down
to business. Vintage Fenders produce, in my opinion, the finest surf-rock
sound you can get. That's why I bought the guitar in the first place. I play
in a surf band, and I knew that this little guitar would give us a great
sound. Anyway, I mentioned the smooth fretboard; that combined with the
action makes the strings easy to hold down, and accomodates fast playing. I
love it.
Flat Earth Guitars does an astounding job at restoring guitars. This one is
40 years old, and it looks brand new! The body and neck are highly polished,
and this thing shines like the sun. Looking at the pictures of it on the
website, you'd almost never know it was the same guitar. It just shows what
a little time, effort, care, and know-how can do! This guy is a pro, too!
Look at the step by step restoration to see what I mean.
Many thanks to Doug at Flat Earth Guitars for everything. I couldn't be
happier with the guitar. To everyone out there: if you see this guy selling
an instrument on ebay, check it out! You might find a great guitar, and if
you buy from him, you'll definitely have a great transaction. I know I did.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Jon Sheffer- "The Shockwaves"
