This 19th Century heirloom violin
arrived at the Flat Earth as a pile of
parts in an old rough-hewn case.
The violin was constructed by the
owner's Great-Uncle and had been
passed through the generations to
him. The instrument had great
sentimental value and deserved an
excellent restoration. Over a period
of three months, the parts were
carefully reassembled or fabricated.
Purfling was replaced, a bridge
fabricated, new tuners fit, new
tailpiece installed, old finish
removed and new stain and varnish
applied. The final result is an
excellent looking and playing
instrument.
